I know that I have really neglected my family blog. I have been SO extremely busy with orders that I just have not had time to post. Here are the Christmas pictures I took of the girls. We hope everyone had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Ok, I finally found time to post again. Last Saturday Kaitlyn had her birthday party. She was so excited. She loves cats and dogs so she wanted a cat and dog party. I normally spend a little more time on their birthday cake, but this is what she wanted. It's a cupcake dog bone cake. Easy enough and it must have been good because I didn't have very many left! Here are some pictures from the party. I can't believe she is 5!!! My baby is growing up and all though we have considered having another baby, she has been my baby for 5 whole years......where did the time go???

Kaitlyn blowing out her candles.

Here she is opening all the wonderful presents she got including the "lots of money" she requested!

We rented a big slide and after about 10 minutes and Kaitlyn seeing if she could flip down it, I was beginning to wonder if I should have gotten the bounce house instead. She is definitely my daredevil!!

Yum, Yum!!

Ok, here is the only picture that I actually got Kaitlyn to be still long enough for me to take. She is still sporting her huge bruise on her chin that she got from a collision with some little boy's hard head at school!

Last of all, I had to make her a birthday shirt. I thought it turned out really cute, especially the little dog and cat with their party hats on. We had a great time and Kaitlyn received so many nice gifts. I just want to say thank you to everyone that got to come and we missed everyone that didn't.

I know that I haven't posted in ages, sorry. But if you follow my sewing blog you can see why. I'm really going to try and do better, it's just lately I have literally been walking in the house, going straight to the sewing machine and usually finding myself still there at 3:00 in the morning! Last week I did get a break when I joined Kaitlyn and her class on a fun field trip to the Nicholas Boyd Pumpkin Patch. Here are some pictures from last Thursday.

Here is Mrs. Kristi's Class.

Kaitlyn loves this "swing" (it's a rope tied to a feed sack). I could hang one just like it in our yard and I guarantee the first words out of her mouth would be "Momma, I'm not swingin' on sack!!"

Here is Miss Independent going for the biggest pumpkin there was! I don't know where she gets her "I can do everything by myself" attitude at?????? Must be from her daddy!

Deep in thought over something or maybe one of the many serious conversations on the wagon as we were traveling through the fields. Believe me, we were entertained left and right!

Here is Kaitlyn and my niece Kaylee Howell. This is her first year at PDS and I think she loves it!!

Jitters, jitters everywhere! Natalie had butterflies this morning about here first day of school. She was not as nervous as last year, but I guess that first day is always a little exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Kaitlyn on the other hand was ready to go! She was ready to see her friends.

Here is Kaitlyn's PDS school bag. She told me to make it as pretty as possible. She loved it, so maybe it will help those first day of school jitters.

I haven't had a lot to post lately. I was super busy this weekend with sewing orders. I also made another cake this weekend for my mother and father-in-law's birthday. Hopefully things will slow down soon and I can be a little bit better at blogging more often!

Long Weekend, Cake Icing and Family

I had a long weekend, but it sure didn't feel like it. We had a family reunion Saturday and my grandparents 68th Anniversary Reception. It was definitely a long day. Friday I spent ALL day baking and decorating 3 cakes for their reception. I taught myself how to decorate cakes about four years ago when I wanted to start making my girls birthday cakes. It's definitely time consuming, but a wonderful feeling of accomplishment once you finish. Needless to say when I got finished about 11:30 Friday night, I had icing from head to toe, but I thought they turned out pretty and my grandmother loved it......that made every minute spent worth it!

Bears, Birds and Trains.....What Fun!!

We ended up going to Memphis. It was a lot of fun for the girls. We spent all day at the Memphis Zoo and had a blast!

They absouletly LOVED watching the polar bears! We have been to the Memphis Zoo several times in the past, but this is the first time that the bears were so social!

Feeding the birds was another favroite! You can buy a food stick as you walk in and if you hold your stick close enough the birds will climb on. Natalie and Kaitlyn both ended up with at least 3 birds on their sticks.

And of course we had to ride the train! I let the girls enjoy the train ride with their Nana and Papa so I could get a picture.

Back from Daytona...

I posted last week that my husband was leaving for a Nascar trip to Daytona, FL. Well needless to say I do believe he had a wonderful time. Oh, and if it's not noticeable in the pictures what driver and team he likes, well it's Dale Jr. #88!

Florida, Tennessee and Homesickness

My girls and husband are SO excited this morning. We usually do not take separate vacations, but I guess this is really just a mini one. Albert is flying out in the morning for Daytona, FL. He is going with his cousin to a Nascar race. He is VERY excited, but also already homesick. He hates being away from home, but I'm sure once he gets to the track the homesickness will pass! My girls and I are going to take a mini vacation with my parents to TN!! Even though we have a pool in our backyard, the hotel we are staying in has an indoor pool, so that's all they can talk about.

The Beginning…

Hopefully I can be a dedicated blogger! Several of my friends wanted me to set up a blog with the items that I have been sewing and selling. So finally I have decided to do both, a family blog and a sewing blog. I have a link for my sewing blog on the sidebar. I have just started creating it so hopefully I will have pictures on it soon.
